Also, my bata is GIGANTIC. We had a meeting last Saturday and someone was making a list of who needed new batas. They put me on the list.
"Already, I have!" I protested.
"Where did you buy that one?" They asked.
"Peace Corps to me gives" I explained.
"It is too big" They told me. And my name stayed on the list. So, maybe in a few months (who knows how long this takes in Moz?) I'll be the proud new owner of a new and smaller bata. I hope it's cotton!
When I explained to my neighbor that teachers don't wear batas in the US it blew her mind.
"So, teachers...wear WHATEVER they want?"
"Yup, qualquer roupa" MIND. BLOWN.
In other, non-bata related news. It rained last night! If you're keeping score at home that's a 6-4-3 double play. (is it spring training yet?). I don't think it's rained since the first week of school. Three weeks! I'm so happy. A crazytown storm woke me up at 3 am. My eyes were open, there was a strobe light in my room and I realized all of a sudden that I was hot--the power was out so my fan was off. I kicked out of my mosquito net in my pajamas, ran around the house in the dark--tripped over a few cockroaches--found all my bacias and buckets and put them out under my roof to catch the rain and went back to bed. Like an African miracle all my buckets were full when I got up this morning. Yesssssssssss.
Oh yeah, and I need a haircut. Who will come over here and cut my hair??????
