kickin' it with the Criancas

The other day I bought myself a carvao-stove.  It's a metal box that you put charcol in.  They're Hard to light.  Good thing my 10 year old neighbor was around to do it for me. Girl Scouts everywhere should be ashamed of my ineptitude with charcol.  But I'll figure it out soon enough.

The best part about cooking in Mozambique is that you mostly just sit around and watch the food cook.  For hours.  It took over 2 hours to make my bean-soup.  That includes carvao-wrangling.  I enjoyed every second of it though.  There was no slaving away over a hot stove--only hanging out on the stoop with these kiddos.

This is my best friend.  He's 3 and I think his name is something like "Tony"

We watched some Adventure Time.

These are Serge's kids.  They're crazy about these books I found in my house.  I have about 50 and I think they've read every single one already.  They spent all day yesterday at my door asking for more books, more books.

This is my "Estou a pedir" face.  As in:  give me back my camera!
