Last night, I was sitting around reading, or whatever I do when the sun goes down when I hear the loudest, scariest sound I've ever heard. It was sort of like a fire-alarm? Or maybe like a cicada with a loud speaker? It was just a big grasshopper (BIG! like, the size of a mouse), sitting on top of my water filter. I walked over, looked at it for a second and then decided that it lacked both stingy or bitey parts so I left it alone. It hopped around the room for a few minutes--I could tell because it made a THUNK sound every time it relocated.
I went back to reading.
A few minutes later I heard some shuffling and crunching. I looked up. Puffin was looking at me crosseyed with a leg sticking out of her mouth and a wing dangling off her bottom lip. She actually ate the grasshopper. I guess this means I can feed her less sardines tomorrow since she's supplementing her diet with insects. This is great: Kricket used to kill giant roaches in my MiamiHouse, but she never ATE them. Just left the little carcasses for me to clean up. I guess Africa cats are hungrier.
Was it one of those super awesome rainbow colored grasshopper-ey things? I think I saw a few of them in the English hub. They look awesome when they fly.
ReplyDeleteCan Puffin teach my cats to do that please? They won't even eat a baby spider for me. :P
