My new neighbor

I live in the teacher housing block on school grounds.  It's sort of like...married student housing.  I have a court yard behind my house that I'm going to plant some vegetables in and lots of neighbors who have lots of babies.  It's pretty fun.  I made a 3 year old friend today who helped me fetch water (he's pretty good with a wheel-barrow, you guys).

I also have the BEST next door neighbor ever: Serge.  Yesterday after I arrived he took me on a passear around town in his car (this means we were driving, but at walking pace).  We picked Kim up on the way and drove the road around Mboa-city.  We watched an amazing lightning storm (serious business, I don't think I've EVER seen so much cloud-to-ground lightning).  After about an hour we rolled into a bar and Serge had the proprietor cook us up a chunk of pork that he had brought with him.  Best dinner ever.  Best welcome to a new town ever.

Today Serge helped me get water for the first time and then he took me down to the mercado and introduced me to his friends who work there--so I can buy my vegetables and economy-sized bottles of bleach from the right people.  Then, he drove me over to Kim's school so I could fill up some jugs with agua-doce...or, fresh-not-salty-water to drink.  And, wait, it gets even better--he fed me dinner again....  I love African hospitality.
