Moz 19

Hey! welcome to the first post from "in country".  I won't go on and on now because I need to be short and I'm having a hard time finding all the right buttons on this Mozambique-an computer.

I spent a day and a half in Philly.  I saw the Liberty Bell and met lots of new friends.  Then, we got up at 1:30 in the morning and drove to New York where we slept on the floor next to the check in counter for 3 hours until they opened.  Peace Corps is pretty well organized and they definitely have their act together.  Part of that is making sure that all 56 of us didnºt miss our flight to Johannesburg by making us leave Philly at 2am for a 11:15am flight.

We were picked up at the Maputo airport by peace corps staff--they drove us and our ridiculous amount of luggage to this sweet hotel where we have been living the dream.  Seriously folks, this is the nicest hotel Ive ever stayed at in my entire life.  The food is great, they give us tea-breaks every afternoon.  We have a sick pool and a lovely view of the ocean.  We´ve been getting tons of immunizations and learning about the who's who of Peace Corps Mozambique.  We were issued our first aid kits and shown how to assemble our water filters (an awesome stainless steel 18L gravity-filter thing)

Tomorrow though we´re leaving this resort compound and heading to our training-site.  Im going to meet my host family tomorrow and live like an actual Mozambique-an.

I donºt know yet what my internet access situation will be, but stay tuned because my next posts I'm sure will be very interesting.
